About

Rachel Mulvaney

Author & Devotional Writer

Rachel Mulvaney writes devotionals for women who love God and are also, most days, running on about four hours of sleep and half a cup of coffee they reheated twice. She’s the author of the Honest Grace series — Lord, I Am This CloseI Love Jesus, But People Are a Lot, and Prayers for When You Want to Scream — thirty-day devotionals built for the version of faith that actually happens in real life: in the car before school drop-off, in the group text you’ve left on read for three days, in the prayer that’s really just a sigh with words attached.

She started writing this way because she got tired of devotionals that made faith sound tidier than it’s ever felt to her. The Bible is full of people who were exhausted, overwhelmed, and occasionally furious at God — and somehow that never made it into the version of Christian womanhood she was handed growing up, the one with the color-coded planner and the endless reserve of patience. Rachel doesn’t have that reserve. Most days she has about eleven good minutes and a genuine desire to show up honestly with whatever she’s got left, which turned out to be a message a lot of readers needed to hear.

When she isn’t writing, Rachel is misplacing her phone while holding it, screening a call she’ll absolutely call back later, and maintaining a small, unnecessary stockpile of candles in the hall closet that she insists is “for ambiance” and is actually just for the Tuesdays. She lives with her family, a running group chat she loves and occasionally mutes, and a deep, ongoing commitment to telling the truth about what faith actually looks like on the hard days — not the polished version, the real one.

“You are allowed to be tired and still love God. If nobody has told you that lately, let me be the first.”
